“In Feng Shui, red can be used to create eye-catching accents and color schemes. In nature, this color is complimented by others, such as green in the leaves of the plants and the contrast of the colors of the flowers. Sunsets are red, as are the glowing embers of a fire and since fire is one of the main elements in the principle of Feng Shui, why wouldn’t you want to bring it into your living space?
Red is the color that has the longest wavelength and its association with fire can give you and your family more energy, helping you to lead an active lifestyle. Rooms of your home that are painted red or have red accents, such as furniture, pillows, bed coverings or window dressings, will benefit from having positive chi. Too much red, though, will be overwhelming and make you feel aggravated and stressed. Therefore you do have to find a delicate balance when using this color.” CLICK HERE to read entire article.
I have been more and more interested in the art of Feng Shui due to my current DIY decorating attack on my home. Red has been the one color that I’ve steered away from due to it’s “aggressive” reputation. I found this article helpful because until I can afford to re-vamp my bedroom, it’s current theme is black and white damask with red trim and I’ve completely avoided decorating that room because I was afraid to add any more red to my room-of-rest than what would permit me to get a goods night sleep.
Now that I have put that fear to rest, I think I’ll look into some fun red, square wooden wall shelves. We are currently adding them to our new “modern” line at American Wall Shelves, so if your interested in getting some like it for yourself, keep an eye out for them!
